The\u00a0albumen print<\/b>, also called\u00a0albumen silver print<\/b>, is a method of producing a\u00a0photographic print<\/a>\u00a0using\u00a0egg whites<\/a>. Published in January 1847[<\/span>1]<\/span><\/a><\/sup>\u00a0by\u00a0Louis D\u00e9sir\u00e9 Blanquart-Evrard<\/a>, it was the first commercial process of producing a photo on a paper base from a\u00a0negative<\/a>,[<\/span>2]<\/span><\/a><\/sup>\u00a0previous methods – such as the\u00a0daguerreotype<\/a>\u00a0and the\u00a0tintype<\/a>\u00a0– having been printed on metal. It became the dominant form of photographic positives from 1855 to the start of the 20th century, with a peak in the 1860\u201390 period. During the mid-19th century, the\u00a0carte de visite<\/a>\u00a0became one of the more popular uses of the albumen method. In the 19th century,\u00a0E. & H. T.
